Through tragedy we often find meaning and purpose. The unexpected
death  of Kevin sparked interest in making the Healthy Heart more than
just a running event, but an event that brings awareness to Heart Disease.

Kevin Calderbank was a beloved uncle and avid runner who died on
September 5, 2009 at age 50 of an unexpected heart attack.  Kevin's commitment
to his family especially his nieces, academia and the community was unparalleled.
He had just received an MBA and started teaching at Florida Atlantic University.
A south Florida resident, Kevin volunteered for the Men's Club at his local church
and held many key leadership positions in the community. He dedicated his life to
service and the relentless pursuit of knowledge. Kevin was training for the Jacksonville
Marathon and his goal was 3:40 so that he could qualify for Boston.
